Education
I have a master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Southampton. In 2002, I studied Professional Photography Practice at London College of Printing. My ongoing interest in education also resulted in four years as governor at Kent Institute of Art & Design.

Journalism
My full-time journalism career began at weekly New Civil Engineer magazine. I subsequently worked on architectural newspaper Building Design as technical editor and then features editor. While at BD, I was also appointed editor of Interiors for Architects and Designers. After that, I spent three years as editor of interiors magazine FX.

Freelance projects
In 2002, I launched a freelance career spanning photography, writing, film and communications. I workwith clients including architects, designers, publications, advertising and creative agencies and manufacturers.

Photographic commissions
Commissions include project photography for architects and designers. Other work ranges from editorial portraits and people photography to products and product installations.

Writing commissions
I have 15 years of journalism experience, spanning writing, commissioning and editing. I have contributed to a wide range of publications, including Building Design, Design Week, Blueprint, Frame, FX and Kitchens, Bedrooms & Bathrooms. I also undertake commissions for public and private sector organisations and companies.

Collaborations
The creative consultancy
fuwagardner was established in 2007, co-founded with former Blueprint art director Junko Fuwa. I also work in partnership with PR consultancy Informare for clients including Platform and Bisley.

Recognition
I am a fellow of the RSA and member of the Association of Photographers.
