Liverpool’s Mann Island nears completion
My latest ‘Eyewitness’ spread for FX is – shock, horror! – a construction shot. Not very appropriate for an interiors magazine perhaps, but the composition caught my eye when I was recently up in Liverpool.
The image shows the finishing touches being made to cladding at Mann Island, one of a number of mystifyingly crystalline structures that have sprouted on Liverpool’s majestic riverfront over the last couple of years. Designed by architect Broadway Malyan, it has a sinister presence a bit like a crash-landed stealth bomber next to the much more uplifiting Three Graces.
